Jen, Sara and Christine are Registered Nurses and Certified Lactation Counselors at CMC, where they care for sick and premature babies, well babies, and postpartum mothers. They also provide lactation support for The Moms Place through lactation rounding.

Jen teaches sibling classes and newborn care classes for the Childbirth Education Department. Christine teaches sibling classes, prenatal yoga, mom/baby yoga, toddler yoga, and infant CPR/first aid. She is also the chair of the patient satisfaction committee for Moms Place and the SCN. Sara provides lactation support to mothers in the community.

Jen has been a NICU nurse for 12 years and has been at CMC for 5 years. She is passionate about couplet care, limiting infant maternal separation, and breastfeeding. She especially enjoys working with premature babies who are learning to breastfeed.

Sara has been at CMC for 3 years. Supporting and advocating for breastfeeding mothers is her passion. She also has a strong interest in promoting an understanding of the instinctual needs of newborns, and in supporting parental autonomy and informed decision making.

Christine has been at CMC for 4 years. Her passions include breastfeeding assistance and promoting health maintenance through lifestyle choices. She excels in supporting NICU parents as they gain confidence in caring for their premature infants.

Workshops presented by CMC! 

What to expect- what to expect when you get to the hospital, during labor and delivery, and routine mom and baby care through discharge- with an emphasis on breastfeeding initiation, bonding, and rest. 

 

Breastfeeding Basics- preparation during pregnancy, getting off to a strong start in the hospital, review of the physiology of milk production, tips for breastfeeding at home and returning to work, and sources of support 

Golden hour- the importance of the first few hours following birth, neonatal instincts, benefits of skin to skin, the breast crawl, initiation of breastfeeding, delaying procedures and reducing newborn stress
